Mont Reve has topped out. The structure has reached its final height, and the building is moving into the next chapter of its life. Topping out is the moment a build stops growing upward. The vertical rise is complete. From here, the work turns inward. Every decision from this point is about finish, fit and feel.
With the structure topped, the team is enclosing the envelope, sealing the building so that the interior can begin its own programme of work. Once the envelope is closed, the building holds its own conditions. Fit-out can start in earnest. This is the threshold most developments work toward for months. It is the point where the building stops being a construction site and starts becoming a place.
Toward the end of this month, the fit-out of the retail restaurants commences. That is a meaningful step for Mont Reve. It signals that the ground floor is about to take on its public character. The street-facing life of the building begins now, even though the public will only walk through the doors much later.
Retail fit-out is also one of the more intricate stages of any mixed-use development. Each tenant brings its own design language, its own services requirements, its own programme. Coordinating those alongside the wider building works is detailed, layered, and unforgiving of shortcuts.
“Mont Reve has topped out. The structure has reached its final height, and the building is moving into the next chapter of its life.”
Mont Reve is topped, sealing up, and starting to fit out. The building is becoming itself.
For more than 30 years, Saul and Paul Berman have built one way. Hands on. On site. Personally involved in every brick and every handover. These monthly updates exist to show the work behind the milestones, not the milestones alone.
We Are Building.
